Notes and references
- ↑ Probably the son of Jean Le Boutillier and Marie du Feu, who was christened in Trinity in August 1711, and named after his godfather, Mr Aaron Messervy. A sister of this Aaron Le Boutillier, named Elizabeth, was christened in Trinity in December 1712, and was godmother to his daughter Susanne in 1732. She was doubtless the Elizabeth who married Nicolas Le Gros in the following year (1733) in St Mary, as she and Nicolas, as well as Aaron Le Boutillier, used Me Philippe Renouf and Elizabeth Sorsoleil, his wife, as godparents. Aaron Le Boutillier made his Will on the 24th August 1782. Legatees were the poor of St Ouen, and a shilling sterling to his adult children, Jean Le Boutillier, Aaron Le Boutillier, Philippe Le Boutillier and to Marie Le Boutillier, wife of Philippe de la Perrelle, "tous mes fils et ma fille", all [being] my sons and my daughter. Marie Luce, his well-beloved wife received one third of the testator`s furniture, amongst other items. The Will was proved on the 21st April 1787: D/Y/A/14/31, at the Jersey Archive
- ↑ Born in Trinity, she was buried in St Ouen, the register entry there, reading: "Susanne Le Boutillier, fille Aaron"
- ↑ Her christening entry at St Ouen reads (translated): "30 September 1764: Jeanne, daughter of Jean Le Boutillier, son of Aaron, and of Jeanne Arthur his wife, presented by [being godparents] Aaron Le Boutillier junior and Jeanne Arthur, daughter of Jean Arthur". Aaron Le Boutillier junior and his wife, also named Jeanne Arthur, married in St Mary, the same day, presumably shortly afterwards. Note: The christenings of Jean Le Boutillier (1767) and Charles Le Boutillier (1778) have their parents so described (translated): "Aaron Le Boutillier junior and Jeanne Arthur his wife". Their siblings George (1765), Elie (1769), Jeanne (1772) and Edouard (1787) are described as children of "Aaron Le Boutillier, son of Aaron, and of Jeanne Arthur, his wife" -- "Aaron Le Boutillier, son of Aaron" being one and the same as "Aaron junior"

- ↑ Master Mariner. His godfather was Edouard Le Boutillier junr. brother of the child. He was the Philippe Le Boutillier, mentioned by John Jean, in Jersey Sailing Ships, (Chichester: Phillimore, 1982), 131, although John Jean has an incorrect date of birth--1834, St Ouen. In 1871, this Philippe Le Boutillier, Master Mariner, was living next door to his brother John, on the Vinchelez Main Road. He was married to Jane and had a son, John P. Le Boutillier, aged 7 years: St Ouen Census. The UK & Ireland Masters and Mates Certificates, at www.ancestry.co.uk give Philippe`s full career details prior to gaining his Master`s Certificate in 1866. He was an O.S. (Ordinary Seaman) from March 1853 to December 1854, firstly aboard the C.T. Sutton and then aboard the Grouville, the former being owned by the St John`s Le Boutillier family of La Chasse. In April 1855, he became an A.B. (Able Seaman) serving aboard the Jersey registered 162 ton brig Telegraph 1855-1856, and the 268 ton barque Oliver Blanchard 1856-1857, when he became 2nd Mate, remaining in this rank aboard the ship until February 1859. He was examined at Plymouth in March 1859 for his "Only Mate`s Certificate", which he gained on the 23rd of that month. His date and place of birth was given as "1833, St Ouen, Jersey", his address as "La Botelerie, St Ouen". The certificate was numbered 20,176. From April 1859 until December 1862, he was Mate of the 95 ton schooner Dit On, the 126 ton brig Seaflower and the 256 ton barque Homely all being Charles Robin and Company vessels in the Gaspé cod trade. His Master`s Certificate, dated 05/05/1866, "for foreign going ships" was numbered 82,685. Captain Le Boutillier had, by 1881, taken up farming, living at Parkland House, Les Landes, St Mary, where he was farming 27 vergées
- ↑ Farmer
- ↑ Proprietor, in 1886; Publican at the Carrefour Selous Hotel, in 1901, in which he was succeeded by his daughter, Eva
- ↑ Of Clairvale Road, St Helier
- ↑ Settled in Cheticamp, Inverness County, Nova Scotia, Canada. His Will was dated 1980
- ↑ Christened in St Mary the same day that his brother Charles was buried. His godparents were Charles Le Boutillier and Jeanne Maret, who had married in 1737 in Trinity. Charles, the godfather, was probably the infant`s paternal uncle, as he was born to Jean Le Boutillier of Trinity in 1706. Charles Le Boutillier (1740- ) is not among the sons named in his father`s Will, dated 1782, so may have predeceased his father
- ↑ Godparents were Abraham Le Maistre and Marie Giffard, his wife
- ↑ Philippe`s godparents were Nicolas Le Gros and Elizabeth Le Boutillier, his wife, who had married in St Mary, in 1733. Both parties were at the time resident in St Mary. Philippe was buried in 1829, St Ouen, "Philippe Le Boutillier fils Aaron". He had been, in 1814 the godfather of Edward Le Boutillier
- ↑ Her baptismal record, with those of her siblings Abraham and Francois, feature unambiguously in the Trinity register, although www.ancestry.co.uk has confused the letters "f" with "s" in the mother`s surname, Giffard and has also failed to recognize a misspelling of the father`s surname
- ↑ Godfather: Thomas Luce, grandfather
- ↑ Godparents (translated): Philippe de la Perrelle and Marie Le Boutillier, his wife, sister of the child
