This Jerripedia family tree was first added to the site in 2016. It was submitted by a user and has been cross-checked against church and parish records.

There was a problem concerning the marriages of Cyrus Brohier at generation 3. As far as we have been able to ascertain, there was only ever one Cyrus living in Jersey at this time and he married both Marie Tapin and Elizabeth de Carteret. However, the transcription of the St Saviour marriage register shows the marriage to Marie on 20 February 1698/99 and the marriage to Elizabeth on 18 October 1698/99.

Under the Julien calendar there was no such date as 18 October 1698/99 (only dates in January-March were shown with both years), and February 1698 fell after October 1698. The way the dates were transcribed made it impossible to determine which marriage came first, but either way the dates do not tie in with the dates shown for Cyrus' children in the baptism register.

This shows two children by Marie Tapin born in 1700 and 1702 and two by Elizabeth de Carteret born in 1712 and 1715. This suggests that the marriage date shown for Elizabeth is wrong, and that has been confirmed (2018) by reference to the original registers. Marie Tapin died in 1710, which, together with the baptism records, is consistent with a second marriage to Elizabeth in about 1711, which is what we have now discovered, and justifies what was previously shown in the tree.

Record Search

If you want to search for records for any name in this family tree, or for any other family name, just click below on the first letter of the family name you are interested in. This will open a new tab in your browser giving you a list of family names beginning with that letter, for which there are baptism records in our database of half a million church and public registry records.

You can also select marriages or burials. Select the name you want and when the list of records is displayed you can easily refine the search, choosing a single parish, given name(s) and/or start and end dates.

The records are displayed 30 to a page, but by selecting the yellow Wiki Table option at the top left of the page you can open a full, scrollable list. This list will either be displayed in a new tab or a pop-up window. You may have to edit the settings of your browser to allow pop-up windows for www.jerripediabmd.net. For the small number of family names for which a search generates more than 1,500 records you will have to refine your search (perhaps using start or end dates) to reduce the number of records found.
