Notes and references

1. ↑ It seems likely that Jacques was born in Le Gast, Calvados, and moved to Jersey in his 30s. Online sources variously show him as the son of Jacques and an unknown mother, or of Pierre and Gillette James. We have not been able to find any evidence to prove either of these relationships
