Record Search

If you want to search for records for any name in this family tree, or for any other family name, just click below on the first letter of the family name you are interested in. This will open a new tab in your browser giving you a list of family names beginning with that letter, for which there are baptism records in our database of half a million church and public registry records.

You can also select marriages or burials. Select the name you want and when the list of records is displayed you can easily refine the search, choosing a single parish, given name(s) and/or start and end dates.

The records are displayed 30 to a page, but by selecting the yellow Wiki Table option at the top left of the page you can open a full, scrollable list. This list will either be displayed in a new tab or a pop-up window. You may have to edit the settings of your browser to allow pop-up windows for For the small number of family names for which a search generates more than 1,500 records you will have to refine your search (perhaps using start or end dates) to reduce the number of records found.

In a contract dated 1606 [RP 2/51] Guillaume`s wife is named as “Michelle, daughter of Jean Le Sebirel of St John...and of Jacquette, his wife, daughter of Nicolas Le Marynel”
  7. Officier des Chemins, Vingtaine du Nord, St John, 1641
  8. An example of the ambiguities that confront Jersey researchers; two children of the same name — far from uncommon in the 16th and 17th centuries, marrying in the same parish men of almost the same name
  9. RP 2/140: “1607, Jean Romeril, younger son of Clement Romeril, the said Clement, son of Guillaume Romeril, sold to Philippe Romeril, fils Nicolas, [his 1st cousin], the said Nicolas fils Guillaume, together with his co-heirs, part of the inheritance of his said late father”. 13. Godparents: Philippe Romeril, fils Philippe, and Anne, widow of Clement Romeril, fils Collas
  14. Godfather: Clement Romeril, fils Nicolas, brother of the said [father] fils Philippe, fils Nicolas
  15. Godfather: Helier Romeril son of Collas fils Philippe, fils Collas (1619)
  16. Fille Philippe, fils Nicolas
  17. Fils Philippe

  22. P Romeril, probably Philippe or, from the godfather, Pierre, if a son, does not feature in the St John Register transcript used by Ancestry. The original, earlier, register has this entry. Godfather: Pierre Pyke (sic)
  23. RP 6/204: “1623, Nicolas Romeril and Jeanne, his wife, sell to Philippe Romeril, their elder brother, and his heirs, their house...”
  24. Officier des Chemins, Herupe, St John, 1637-8 Fils Nicolas
  25. RP 5/158 (1618), above
  26. CH (1585), St John: “Nicolas Sarre, elder son and principal heir of John Sarre [above], being sued by William de Carteret, Procureur of Marguerite Romeril, for an equal [and fair] division of the property of the said Jean Sarre” from whom Marguerite had to be descended, to be so entitled
  27. CH (October 1566): “Guillaume Le Marinel with regard to Guillaume Romeril: that in the event of Le Marinel being in default [in his proposed transaction involving Le Court land, which should first be offered to his kinsmen, as descended from that family], the said Romeril would be seized of the second part of the inheritance of Collette [Le Court], previously wife of John Romeril.” This case was ongoing in 1568. As Le Marinel was not stated to be acting on behalf of his wife, it was evident that he was acting in his own right. He was probably the 1st cousin of Guillaume Romeril, with a deceased Romeril mother. Jacques Le Court, Collette's brother, also features in various court hearings, notably in one at the Cour d`Héritage in 1538, being sued by John Romeril, in right of his wife, for her share of the inheritance
