Matthieu was baptised at Town Church son of Thomas BLONDEL and Marie TODEVIN. The other children were baptised at St Pierre du Bois, where the parents names are recorded as Thomas BLONDEL and Marie TOSTEVIN. Though both these spellings are common, so a different cleric may use the alternative especially in Town where it is spelled as pronounced.

Jean Blondel is not recorded as being born or baptised in St Pierre du Bois, so presumably came from elsewhere. There is a suitable Jean Blondel b. 1662 in St Andrews with a first born son Thomas shown on the Blondel Chart at The Priaulx. See La Porte line. No further information is given for that Thomas though Jean is shown to have another family later in St Andrews. Added weight can be added to this theory by the fact that another of this line, (Pierre Ozanne BLONDEL), went to Alderney and had family there in the 1850s.
