The Halkett Hotel was at the southern end of Halkett Place, formerly Morier Lane, and occupied the site where the States offices, Morier House, now stand.

In 1887, when this advert was placed in the L'Almanach de la Gazette de Jersey and the hotel was run by John Berrow, his daughter Charlotte Elizabeth married Francois John Le Maistre, a wines and spirits merchant next door, when both were in their fifties.
