Property name

Ivy Well Cottage

Location

Rue du Douet, Trinity

Type of property

Single storey 19th century cottage

Historic Environment Record entry

Listed building

Single storey, five-bay cottage with two-bay dower. Stone chimneys with thatch dripstones and pantile roof. Painted rubble stone walling. In front of cottage is good survival of a historic well head retaining its original form and features. Round plan, reddish granite, uprights on either side with ledges and straight stone in front. Circular cap with circular indent.

The well featured on a well-known 1910 postcard, based on this photograph, but only showing the two women, is believed to be the one at Ivy Well Cottage, but if it is, there must have been significant alterations since it was taken in the 1880s
