La Varde Dolmen
La Varde Dolmen is a megalithic passage grave on L'Ancresse Common, Vale. It was discovered in 1811 during military exercises, and was first excavated in 1837 by Frederick Corbin Lukis.
The grave itself is 10 metres long, and the capstone is five metres long and weighs 10 tons. It dates back to between 3,000 to 2,500BC.
Archaelogical examinations of the site have revealed human remains, flints, stone tools and pottery.
