Descendants of Nathanael Westaway
|
This tree, added to the site in 2019, shows the ancestry in Devon of Jersey benefactor Julia Westaway and the descendants of her brother John Nathaniel. Their story can be found here Although this tree, which was submitted to us in 2015 and was not added until 2019, has been checked against Jersey records in later generations, we have not been able to confirm the early part of the tree. Only direct ancestors of the Jersey family and siblings have been included. Other side branches of the submitted tree have been ignored to keep the tree to a reasonable size All baptisms and marriages in Devon (mostly Inwardleigh) unless otherwise shown There is no family page for this surname at present
Record Search
You can also select marriages or burials. Select the name you want and when the list of records is displayed you can easily refine the search, choosing a single parish, given name(s) and/or start and end dates. The records are displayed 30 to a page, but by selecting the yellow Wiki Table option at the top left of the page you can open a full, scrollable list. This list will either be displayed in a new tab or a pop-up window. You may have to edit the settings of your browser to allow pop-up windows for www.jerripediabmd.net. For the small number of family names for which a search generates more than 1,500 records you will have to refine your search (perhaps using start or end dates) to reduce the number of records found. Scarcely less memorable, was his heroism when the Normandy, on which he was a passenger, sank in 1870. He assisted other passengers into the lifeboats, only to step aside, giving the last place to a Miss Godfray, losing his life shortly afterwards. The Westaway Monument at La Collette commemorates this selfless act of courage
