Mary Hemery
Mary Hemery was born in 1856 in Arundel, Sussex. She was married in December 1876 in Canterbury to Benjamin Howell-Jones born c1849 British Guiana. They had four children, John Hyndman Howell-Jones known as Jack, born c1878 British Guiana, Leonora Mary Howell-Jones born c1880 British Guiana, Katie Millicent Howell-Jones and Christian Howell-Jones born c1882 British Guiana.
John married Florence Severne and they had a son, Edmund.
There is a French photo postcard of Katie Howell Jones in fancy dress at Christmas 1916 in the Windsor Hotel Paris Plage – where she was a cook in a Red Cross billet for about 50 nurses and VADs, during the First World War.
In later life she lived at Kew Cottage, 110 Shortheath Road, Farnham, Surrey. She died about 1970 and was buried near Farnham.
Leonora Howell Jones became an Anglican nun, being known as Sister Leonora.
