A Militia uniform worn from 1846 to 1855


This list of Militia officers is taken from the 1852 British Press Almanac. It shows that despite the arrival in the island in the preceding three decades of large numbers of Army officers, either retired or on half-pay, the Militia was still commanded almost exclusively by men from long-standing Jersey families.
