Descendants of George Touzel
TreeIcon.png

This tree was added to the site in 2011 and considerably enlarged in 2019. The tree and its parent, "Descendants of Guillemin Touzel," cover the years 1480-1730, although two branches have been continued into the 20th century. It should not be assumed that this is the sole record, between these years, of St Clement Touzels. Another St Clement Touzel genealogy, which cannot be connected with that featured on this page, also starts in 1480 with Jean Touzel and his wife, the daughter of Rogier Le Clercq. Its members were more numerous than those now featured

Record Search

If you want to search for records for any name in this family tree, or for any other family name, just click below on the first letter of the family name you are interested in. This will open a new tab in your browser giving you a list of family names beginning with that letter, for which there are baptism records in our database of half a million church and public registry records.

You can also select marriages or burials. Select the name you want and when the list of records is displayed you can easily refine the search, choosing a single parish, given name(s) and/or start and end dates.

The records are displayed 30 to a page, but by selecting the yellow Wiki Table option at the top left of the page you can open a full, scrollable list. This list will either be displayed in a new tab or a pop-up window. You may have to edit the settings of your browser to allow pop-up windows for www.jerripediabmd.net. For the small number of family names for which a search generates more than 1,500 records you will have to refine your search (perhaps using start or end dates) to reduce the number of records found.

  8. Online trees show birth in 1639, but there are no such records of a birth or baptism then. The 1668 Extente, 37, mentions Henry Touzel owing the Crown "for George Touzel, for Filleul" 2 hens per annum, as mentioned above. Henry was in 1673 a merchant. Also see RP 24/69 (1687)

His date of birth is given in this certificate as the 26th August 1812, in St Clement, which amends the erroneous date given in the summary index of www.ancestr.co.uk, by his name, which was in fact the date of his home, as opposed to his church, christening. He gained permission to renounce his priesthood and entered the Inner Temple in 1886, intending to read for the English Bar. A final career change saw him enter the Army, being commissioned into the 3rd Battalion, Royal Welsh Fusiliers. It should be mentioned that C.J.C.
