Record Search

If you want to search for records for any name in this family tree, or for any other family name, just click below on the first letter of the family name you are interested in. This will open a new tab in your browser giving you a list of family names beginning with that letter, for which there are baptism records in our database of half a million church and public registry records.

You can also select marriages or burials. Select the name you want and when the list of records is displayed you can easily refine the search, choosing a single parish, given name(s) and/or start and end dates.

The records are displayed 30 to a page, but by selecting the yellow Wiki Table option at the top left of the page you can open a full, scrollable list. This list will either be displayed in a new tab or a pop-up window. You may have to edit the settings of your browser to allow pop-up windows for For the small number of family names for which a search generates more than 1,500 records you will have to refine your search (perhaps using start or end dates) to reduce the number of records found.

Notes and references

  1. Sister and principal heiress of Thomas de Gruchy of St Helier, Silversmith. She also inherited the portrait of the Maréchal Marquis de Grouchy and his family`s correspondence with Thomas de Gruchy. The latter had been, in 1836, recognised as a kinsman by the marshal, together with the then head of the Island family, Philippe de Gruchy of La Chasse, Trinity, and Abraham de Gruchy. A portrait of Thomas de Gruchy, seated, holding a silver container, in the possession of his Canadian descendants, was recently given a new identity as Josué Le Bailly, Jean Le Gallais` father-in-law, as opposed to his uncle! The reason for the change was that the portrait was one of a pair, the other having always been assumed to have been de Gruchy`s wife. However, he never married. He did though, live with a housekeeper and companion, his cousin, Esther de Gruchy. The matter is yet to be resolved
  2. Having married into the other branch of the de Gruchys to have been recognised as kinsmen by the marshal, she inherited from her mother the above portrait and correspondence. They are today in the hands of her Gaudin descendants in England, (q.v)
  3. Cider and Perry Manufacturer
  4. Of La Ferrière, St Saviour
  5. This was the second marriage of the Reverend Josias Roy, B.A.
  6. As above
  7. Issue: One son, who died in infancy and two daughters
  8. died at Vancouver
  9. Died London, Ontario
  10. Died at Winnipeg, unmarried
  11. Of La Ferrière; Captain, RJM, Advocate, Constable of St Saviour, Receiver-General
