Historic Environment Record entry

Listed building

La Presse: Historic farm group with 17th century origins [1] retaining character and features with fine stonework on the 18th century farm house and on the later 19th century outbuildings. It remains a cohesive farm group.

Shown on the Richmond Map of 1795. Dwelling on the site originates from the 17th century with an arch and chamfered stone reused in the outbuilding.

La Neuve Presse: An elegantly proportioned three-storey, three-bay, mid-19th century house retaining its historic proportions and character. The plan form has lost some integrity incorporating the extensions, but some good quality historic features remain.

Old Jersey Houses

Despite its early origins, this property is not included in either volume

Notes and references

  1. The site, in a slightly sheltered dip in the surrounding terrain, whose owners have a history going back to at least the start of the 17th century, suggests a medieval site. The 15th century house one would expect in such a site will have been built on to in subsequent centuries or even rebuilt. Usually, however, some interior walls survive from the earliest house
