Historic Environment Record entry
Listed building
Substantial rural house with multiple build phases, retaining character and many historic features. Shown on the Richmond Map of 1795.
Before it had its present name this house used to be referred to as being "pres de l'Eglise" or "proche l'Eglise", a good example of an old house bearing a description rather than a name.
The house is likely older than it appears, for the gable end walls are 8 feet thick, there are remains of fireplace corbels, and four window sills bear unusual mason's marks.
Five-bay, two-storey with attic, with two-bay wing
