Philippe Gaudin's wife

There are two candidates for the wife of Philippe Gaudin and the mother of these children but it is impossible to choose accurately as no mother's name is given on any of the baptism index records for the children. One possibility is Marguerite la Cloche and there is a marriage for her to a Philippe Gaudin on 9 May 1609 in St Martin. The second marriage is for a Philippe Gaudin to Elizabeth Hoden on 3 Oct 1609 in St Martin and in this record he is described as the son of Philippe. The first born child was Elizabeth in 1610 which suggests that the mother was also named Elizabeth but her birth was in Mar 1610 which is more in keeping with the marriage date of Philippe to Marguerite la Cloche. It seems too early to be the child of Philippe and Elizabeth Hoden.

The marriage and births of the children of this family are sourced from the Jersey parish records of baptisms, marriages and burials. Any earlier families and dates come from the Gaudin tree compiled by Helena Cameron in the 1960s. Since there is no evidence from the sources available for the parent(s) of this Philippe Gaudin I have not included any earlier generations. These have been included in other trees on this site but further evidence is necessary to eliminate error. Please see the attached story for further explanation.
