Talk:Descendants of Michel Bertaut

The marriage to Amice and Marie de Ste Croix is wrong because of an error in the database. It was a Nicolas (not Amice) Bertaut who married Marie in 1733/4, as in the transcription and as can be seen from the baptisms of their children etc.

This Amice b. 1703 appears to have married Marie Ahier in 1729 and their daughter Marie Bertaut married Jean Le Couteur in 1753 (see Descent_from_Thomas_Le_Couteur_(c.1460-1530) gen 9). As a result of the Le Couteur connection, certain documents can be found in a collection in Jersey Archive. In particular L/C/68/H1/33 shows that this Amice is son of Jean Bertaut and Elizabeth Laurens; also that he had a nephew Jean son of his brother Jean. Confusingly, no baptism of this Jean can be found (but it appears to be the same for a Matthieu in that generation also). Since this Jean was the principal heir of his father, I estimate Jean's birth at 1694 and Matthieu at 1696. I believe that this Jean married Susanne Pinel but marriage not found.

Another child of Jean Bertaut and Elizabeth Laurens is Jeanne Bertaut (again, baptism not found, but born c. 1705), who married Jean Pinel in 1724.
