With my wife, I have been researching my family tree for a number of years. I have used IslandWiki to confirm details of my Jersey ancestors. My intention in registering as a user is to share data that I have gathered and to confirm, or otherwise, other pieces of data. My 2nd great grandfather, Joseph Butlin (born 1796 Welton, Northamptonshire) married, in 1826 St Heiler, Anne Mauger (born St Laurence 1806 - daughter of Philippe Mauger & Susanne Elisabeth Luce.) They had 7 children - 4 boys & 3 girls. On the 1841 & 1851 census the family are living at Millias House, Le route de Mont, St Ouen. Joseph died in 1852 and is buried in St Ouen Churchyard. Anne died in 1871. Their 6th child,4th son - William Samuel Butlin born 1840(baptised St Ouen), married Elizabeth Susan De Faye (Born 1852), in St Brelade, 1872. Elizabeth was the daughter of Francois De Faye (1818-1872) & Elizabeth Coutanche (1822-1892 - daughter of Edouard Coutanche & Elizabeth Picot). Joseph & Anne's last child, Mary (1846-1923) married Francis Edward De Faye (1848-1927) - brother to Elizabeth Susan De Faye. William Samuel Butlin was a Master Mariner. By the time William Samuel & Elizabeth's eldest son, William Harry De Faye Butlin (my grandfather) was born in 1875, the family, with Mary & Edward De Faye, where living in London. However, by 1891 the family where living in Hull. I have data for all of the other Butlin children. I hope this information is a useful addition to the De Faye, Mauger, Coutanche, Picot trees. I do not know when Joseph Butlin came to Jersey, (but would love to know), he was also a seafaring man. With regard to De Faye ancestors, I have alternative parents for Louis De Faye born 1726 Pamproux, France. I have the following: Louis De Faye married Jeanne Godeux (1739 Groville - 1798) in St Clement, 1765. I have his parents as Jean De Faye (1695 France) & Elizabeth Mimault(1691 France) married 1717. I also have other possibilities for Louis grandparents & great grandparents. I would welcome comments, suggestions.
